A 60-year-old pastor has married his pregnant 19-year-old girlfriend with the full support of his 44-year-old wife.
Thom Miller is in the process of building a huge house for his two wives with each of them occupying their own wing that he will split his time between.
He currently lives in a smaller home and has each of his wives spend three nights with him before the other one takes her turn.
Thom, a former mafia enforcer turned pastor, had talked about polygamy with his first wife Belinda but it was seven years before they settled on 19-year-old Reba Kerfootruba joining their family.
Now the trio plans to raise Reba and Thom’s future biological child together as a family.
‘At first my family thought that what we were doing was not right,’ admits Reba. ‘They didn’t think it was proper for me to be with a man that was already married. But they started to come around and now they’re happy as they know I am happy.
‘Having to share him with another woman can be kind of upsetting at times,’ continues Reba. ‘But I try not to get jealous and when it’s not my time with Thom I just try to occupy myself by going out with friends.
‘The baby will have two mums which I’m OK with.’
So what does Belinda think about her husband’s other wife expecting a baby?
‘We kind of make jokes about the baby and where he or she will sleep because we’ve got two separate master suites – in case mummy Reba needs a break then mummy Belinda can have the baby for the night,’ says Belinda.
‘I’m definitely excited there’s going to be a little human part of us, part of the family,’ adds Thom.
The couple got close to Reba while volunteering at a soup kitchen and she moved in with them shortly after.
Thom was a friend of Reba’s family and knew her when she was younger but claims he was surprised when they met again and she’d become a woman.
‘I’ve known Reba for a long time, then she moved away and I hadn’t seen her for years…. She hugged me and I wanted to keep hugging her and I realised, wow, I’m really appreciating this woman.’
The pair married at Thom’s church just seven years after he had the exact same ceremony with Belinda.
‘The whole situation works for all three of us,’ insists Thom. ‘I am the only one who is allowed to have more than one partner and both my wives understand and appreciate that.
‘I think polygamy benefits everyone because my wives get to have a much larger family – it means they always have a friend with them.
‘There have been arguments in the past and at times there can be flares of jealousy but we manage to make it work.
And in the bedroom?
‘Sexually, I have no preference and look forward to my time alone with both wives,’ says Thom, who completely turned his life around when he was released from prison in 1991 after serving seven years for stabbing a man in a bar fight.
He had worked as an enforcer for the mob in Cleveland, Ohio, and while he has never shot anybody he claimed to have put a gun in a man’s mouth while chasing down a mafia debt.
‘I knew I had to make a change, I wanted to live a more Christian life,’ he says.
