Who wants to be a millionaire? Isabella Barrett, for one – and she achieved it, aged just 6!
Isabella, now 9, enjoys the trappings of her wealth – chauffeur-driven on shopping trips, fine dining on lobster, invitations to the hottest parties – despite the fact she is still in primary school.
So, just how did this little lady get to be quite so successful?
Fashion-mad Isabella came to public prominence when she appeared on American TV show, Toddlers and Tiaras. Now she has her own clothing and jewellery line, more than 1.6 million followers on social media, and a tangible wealth equal to several million dollars from her stakes in two companies – Glitzy Girl and Bound By The Crown Couture.
Isabella’s mum Susanna says, ‘The great thing is, she is still 9 and so as her money grows, we hope to invest it and make that grow as well for her.’
What does Isabella make of her wealth and influence?
‘It feels awesome because I know everybody looks up to me which is a big responsibility. My fans love me, they tell me I’m really cool and just really pretty – there’s nothing not to like about being famous.’
With a collection of 60 pairs of shoes, and an appearance at New York fashion week under her belt, Isabella, from Rhode Island, is living the dream of many girls, but being a young fashion entrepreneur can have its downside. ‘My life is very busy and sometimes I have to miss gymnastics because I have to go on jobs, on auditions and stuff like that.’
Susanna is adamant that fame won’t go to Isabella’s head. ‘Do I think she is going to run around and be a brat and throw things at people’s faces? No – because she wasn’t raised that way.’
And what does Susanna have to say to those people who criticise her for allowing her daughter to wear make-up at a young age? ‘People ask how could I put her in pageant outfits and let her wear make-up and heels, but I think I’ve done a very good job – her manners are impeccable.’
