Standing at just 23inches tall and weighing 15lbs, Manpreet Singh from Punjab, India is one of the smallest people in the world.
Shockingly, despite his youthful appearance, Manpreet is 21-years-old but still unable to walk or talk.
Since the age of 12, he has been visited and worshipped by the local people in his village who believe he is the reincarnation of a Hindi God. Word has spread over the years, and now people approach Manpreet everyday and ask to be blessed.
Manpreet’s mother Manjeet explains, ‘Manpreet, among his relatives as well as those who come from the outside is considered to be like a god. Whoever he blesses, they get their wish fulfilled. People consider him as a god.’
Manpreet has two younger siblings, a 19-year-old sister and 7-year-old brother, both of whom are standard height with no health complaints.
Despite a long pregnancy of 10 and half months, Manpreet’s parents say that everything seemed normal when he was born and that they were not concerned until he stopped growing at 6 months old.
Worried, the family sought the advice of local doctors who initially examined Manpreet, but they were unable to give a full diagnosis. It is thought that he may have a thyroid problem, but sadly none of the drugs that he was prescribed had any effect.
Dad Jagtar explains, ‘we don’t have money to pay for his treatment. We have taken him to many doctors since his birth but around 5-7 doctors told us that he is suffering from thyroid and he can be treated.’
‘But we have given him a lot of medicines and there is no difference.’
Now, the family is hoping that if Manpreet becomes famous for his tiny stature, they will be able to raise enough money for his treatment.
Jagtar says, ‘we have consulted a lot of doctors but they also don’t have any hope. But if by any chance there is a possibility, I could not be happier.’
