After doing so much evil, what final message did these murderers have for the world?
1. Ted Bundy
Last words: “I’d like you to give my love to my family and friends.”
Ted Bundy raped, murdered and mutilated numerous young woman across America. His true victim count is not known, but before his execution in January 1989, he’d confessed to 30 murders.
2. Timothy McVeigh
Last words: “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.”
Timothy McVeigh was behind the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing which killed 168 innocent people and injured over 600 more. His last words were given as a written statement and taken from the William Ernest Henley poem Invictus – which means Unconquerable in Latin.
3. John Wayne Gacy
Last words: “Kiss my ass.”
John Wayne Gacy – AKA The Killer Clown – raped and murdered at least 33 men and boys in Illinois. He was given the nickname as before capture he’d entertain kids at community events dressed as a character called Pogo the Clown.
4. Jeffrey Dahmer
Last words: “I don’t care if I live or die. Go ahead and kill me.”
Jeffrey Dahmer raped and murdered 17 young men and boys, cannibalising many of their bodies. He was beaten to death by a fellow inmate whilst serving a life sentence for his crimes.
5. Andrei Chikatilo
Last words: “Don’t blow my brains out! The Japanese want to buy them!”
Andrei Chikatilo butchered 11 boys and 42 girls and women in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. He remained at large for 12 years until he was convicted of the murders and executed by a gunshot to the head in February 1994. He’s been named one of history’s sickest serial killers.
6. Peter Manuel
Last words: “Turn up the radio and I’ll go quietly”
Peter Manuel was convicted of murdering seven people in Scotland and executed by hanging at Barlinnie prison in Glasgow, in 1958. The Press nicknamed him The Beast of Birkenshaw.
7. Aileen Wuornos
Last words: “I’ll be back.”
Aileen Wuornos killed seven men in Florida between 1989 and 1990. She was executed by lethal injection in 2002. Before her death she terminated all appeals and admitted that she would, if released, kill again.
8. Peter Kurten
Last words: “After my head is chopped off, will I still be able to hear, at least for a moment, the sound of my own blood gushing from the stump of my neck? That would be the pleasure to end all pleasures.”
Peter Kurten was a German serial killer, also known as The Vampire of Dusselforf. He committed a series of bloody murders and admitted his motive was to achieve sexual pleasure. He was executed by guillotine in 1931.
