With 29 boozers closing a week – we’ve got to use ‘em or lose ‘em. But which, by number of pubs still open, are the nation’s favourites?
While we all love a traditional boozer, replete with oak beams, horse brasses and, if we’re lucky a roaring log fire, according to latest figures from CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) sadly, 29 pubs are ringing time and closing forever – every single week.
Pub signs – and their names – have been around since Roman times, and while in past years we’ve had the likes of the Slug and Lettuce, our favourite pub names are all still comfortingly traditional.
Here’s the top 10 from around the UK:
10. Kings Arms
9. Crown Inn
8. Kings Head
