There are certain moments that make your heart soar. Some are pretty major events, while others are just little feelgood happenings. Here are 13 of our favourites…
1. It’s not alarming
Getting into bed on a Friday night and switching off the ‘Alarm Set’ button on your radio alarm because tomorrow’s Saturday and you can have a lie-in.
2. In a lather
At the end of a busy day, sinking into a lovely warm bath full of aromatic, relaxing bubbles.
3. Ale be there…
The first slurp of a cold beer in a pub garden on a really hot day.
4. Show time!
Next on our list of things to make your heart soar, the moment that the spotlights hit the curtains at the theatre and you know that the show is about to start.
5. Movie magic
Another beginning… this time it’s when the ads and trailers finish and the movie you’ve been waiting to see actually starts…
6. Quick! Strictly’s on!
We love hearing the starting theme music to our favourite programme. As soon as we hear that Strictly Come Dancing’s coming on, we’re overjoyed. Here are this year’s opening credits for you to enjoy…
7. You’re on your hols!
Waking up and noticing the strange surroundings and then realising that you’re actually on holiday – hurrah (better get your beach stuff on)!
8. A rude awakening… Not
More Wakey! Wakey! moments. This time when you open your eyes in the morning, you get all fuzzy inside when you remember it’s your birthday. This fuzziness also applies to Christmas Day and mornings when it hits you that you don’t have to go to work.
9. Giving it some welly!
Winning is a joyous experience! Doesn’t even matter what it is. For us, it was a Welly Wanging Competition. We lobbed our big rubber boot further than anyone else and got a certificate. Result!
10. A clean sheet
Getting into a newly changed bed with crisp, clean sheets. It’s even nicer when somebody else has put them on. Like when you stay in a hotel.
11. Hot spot
Swimming in an outdoor pool, you suddenly find yourself in a lovely warm spot. You put the thought that it’s because somebody has down a wee out of your mind, and tell yourself that the sun must have been shining on that bit.
12. Give us a wave
Running into the sea, your heart thumps when you see a gigantic wave coming your way. But once you’ve got into an appropriate depth, you can bob up and down happily without getting knocked over. As each new wave comes your way, you’re filled with anticipation. Ready, and… jump!
13. Taking the lead
Despite stiff competition (well that’s what you’ve told yourself and your parents) you bagged the lead role in the school’s annual dance show. You’ll have to start practising your signature for all those autograph hunters!
