With their glamorous, extravagant lifestyles, most celebrities seem untouchable. But even the rich and famous aren’t immune to getting sick. Here are just a few celebs who suffer from chronic illnesses and long-term health conditions.
1. Lil Wayne
The rapper confirmed he suffers from epilepsy. In October 2012, his private jet had to make an emergency landing after he suffered a bad seizure on board.
2. Pamela Anderson
The Baywatch babe contracted hepatitis C when she shared a tattoo needle with her ex-husband Tommy Lee. The virus can infect the liver and be life-threatening. Pamela claimed doctors told her she’d only live another 10-15 years. But in November 2015 she revealed a new treatment had cured her.
3. Halle Berry
The stunning Hollywood actress was diagnosed with Type-1 diabetes in 1989 after collapsing on set whilst filming. Since then, she claims to have cured herself and now believes she is in the Type-2 diabetes bracket.
4. Morgan Freeman
In 2008, Morgan was involved in a car accident which left him with serious injuries. As a result of the crash, Morgan developed fibromyalgia – a painful, long-term medical condition which may cause muscle stiffness and extreme tiredness.
The rapper admitted he suffers from the condition tinnitus, which causes buzzing, humming or ringing to be heard constantly. ‘I don’t know what silence sounds like,’ he admitted in a Press interview.
6. Missy Elliot
Back in 2011, Missy confirmed she suffers with Graves’ disease – an autoimmune condition meaning the body mistakes something in the body as toxic and attacks it. Graves’ disease attacks the thyroid gland, and symptoms include excessive sweating, muscle weakness and weight loss.
7. Catherine Zeta-Jones
The actress has spoken openly about having bipolar disorder. It’s a condition that affects your mood, which can swing from one extreme to the next. Medication can help control symptoms and prevent episodes.
8. Jack Osbourne
In 2012, the youngest Osbourne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). It’s a condition that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing problems with movement, balance and vision.
9. Kim Kardashian
Many think she has a body and curves to die for, but Kim suffers from the skin condition psoriasis. It causes red, flaky patches all over the body. Kim openly spoke about the condition on her reality TV show and tried many treatments to clear it up, including her sister’s breast milk!
10. Toni Braxton
The singer admitted in 2010 that she suffers from lupus – an autoimmune condition causing a number of symptoms including fatigue, rashes and joint pain. The condition is poorly understood and Toni revealed her uncle died from it.
