There are certain things that we get to witness in life that are truly visions of joy! These are the loveliest things we’ve seen so far and we’re sharing them with you…
1. Do Let The Sun Go Down…
A beautiful sunset is so breathtaking that The Kinks wrote a song about one! In 1967, their single Waterloo Sunset reached number 2. It describes the wondrous sunset at Waterloo in South London. Of course, many an enjoyable sunset has been experienced on holiday. In Negril in Jamaica, excursions take place to visit Rick’s Café, with the sole intention of witnessing the sun going down in spectacular style. Now see it for yourself…
2. Let Them Eat Cake
Let’s face it, nobody can pass a cake shop’s window without looking in. But not all cake shops are the same. They all have mouthwatering fayre, but, let’s face it, those posh ones are in a different league. In a fancy patisserie, you’ll find shelves and shelves of overindulgent delights, that make the humble doughnut look a little dull!
3 Ice, Ice, Baby!
A Mr Whippy ice cream is swirly and enticing in itself! Then add pretty sprinkles in the form of 100s and 1,000s pour sauce over it and the whole thing looks melt in your mouth. Or should that be melt in your hand if you admire it for too long… Best get licking!
4. Head In The Clouds
They look just like cotton-wool balls, don’t they? Like the big, fluffy white ones you see at the beginning of The Simpsons. These clouds are called cumulus and are very attractive. We don’t like the long, thin type that move too fast, or the big black scary looking ones. So we say: ‘fill the sky with cumulus clouds, please!’
5. Chock Factor
There’s something so seductive about how they spill and flow, it’s impossible to resist sticking something into them! We are of course talking about the incredible invention that is the chocolate fountain! Totally irresistible, you don’t even obey the no-double-dipping rule, as you are powerless to its allure. Why not watch this wonder in action..?
6. Life’s A Beach
We don’t mean bank-holiday-busy, deckchair-packed beaches where you can’t find an empty spot to lay your towel in between all the beer bellies! No, our beach is a deserted secret cove with white sand and not another person in sight. The sea is turquoise and warm and the waves lap gently. Time to tie that knotted hanky on your head (joking)!
7. Power Of Flowers
Just imagine a pretty meadow full of wild flowers. Nothing for it, but to slip off your shoes and run through it with carefree abandon. A little like those blooms that grow unhindered and look all the lovelier for it. So make sure you leave them be and enjoy them in their natural setting. These aren’t for sticking in a vase indoors!
8. Picture This!
It may not win a Turner prize, that’s for sure. But this work of art wins awards in your book! Because this drawing is dedicated to you and has been lovingly created by your child especially for ‘Mummy’. It comes with words of love – a sentiment you return ten-fold. And it will have pride of place on the… fridge!!
9. Kitten Keepsake
Old-fashioned chocolate boxes used to come with the cutest photos of kittens together. Once people had gobbled their way through the chocs, they took out the plastic trays and used the box for their keepsakes. Over the years the box has become a little battered, but that pic still makes you go… aww!
10. I Can Sing (And See!) A Rainbow…
All together now… Red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue! Rumoured to have a pot of gold at the end and even it that isn’t true, we still think it’s an exciting event when that colourful arch makes its way across the sky.
11. Simply Fintastic!
If you’ve been lucky enough to see dolphins in their natural habitat, it is a very special experience. The way these delightful creatures dive in and out of the water fills you with awe and wonder. You don’t have to take our word for it, see them for yourself…
12. Falling For It!
As long you’re not desperate for a wee, a waterfall is a wondrous thing! The sound and spectacle as it gushes down with gay abandon into a bigger pool below is gorgeous. It’s the nothing-can-stop-us attitude that these natural phenomenon seem to have that we admire so much!
13. Winter Wonderland
That moment when you glance out of the window in the morning and the outside world has turned into a beautiful Christmas card. There’s an even covering of snow over every surface and only one sledger disturbing the wintry scene. You wish it could stay that way, but at least you can savour it for a while. Before it all gets slushy, mucky and then melts…
14. Caving In
As we’re mentioning caves, we can now have the obligatory discussion about stalactites and stalagmites. Well, they’re both fantastic formations whichever way you look at ’em. And, in fact, if you’re viewing them from the ceiling down, you’ll be admiring a stalctite, while stalagmites grow up from the cave floor. Pretty darned impressive either way!
15. An Alliance With The Countryside
As your car climbs higher up the twisty lanes, you suddenly clock the rolling hills, vast valleys and tended fields separated by hedges that look like a country patchwork quilt… The view takes your breath away! Only thing now is to find out if the local council have provided a pull-in area so that you can park up and fully appreciate what lies beneath…
16. Love This Web Sight…
Cobwebs are pretty incredible already. A spider has painstakingly created its home and made it aesthetically pleasing at the same time. But it becomes even more beautiful after a shower… Now the entire web has come alive as it sparkles and shines with the rain droplets caught in its strands.
17. Expect Fireworks!
For our grand finale, we had to sign off with fireworks. No, not that overpriced rocket you saved till last and it whimpered up and was over in three seconds. Our finale lights up the entire sky and has you ooh-ing and aah-ing in appreciation. Because this is an organised display and it’s absolutely fabulous. Well, let’s face it, when done properly (and unless you’re a pet or a small baby) everybody loves fireworks!
