A baby girl is being given the chance of a new life, thanks to social media.
Chingrung Mro, an 11-month-old from Bangladesh, was born with a rare brain tumour which is now covering much of her face, including one of her eyes and her nose.
Treatment is prohibitively expensive and not available in her remote home town, but help was at hand when social media activist Fabian Gomez highlighted the little tot’s plight. Having gained the attention of a politician through Facebook, arrangements were made for her treatment.
Plastic surgeons in the country’s capital, Dhaka, ran tests on Chingrung and diagnosed a gangliogiloma cyst – a brain tumour, which could prove fatal if left untreated.
The medical experts are now waiting for Chingrung to be strong enough to undergo surgery to remove the tumour and perform plastic surgery. Her dad Sangram has this message for those that have helped his baby: ‘I hope my daughter will improve in this hospital and I want to thank everyone that helped.’
Anyone who watches this moving video would share her dad’s wishes for a happy outcome for baby Chingrung.
