Cats are very self-sufficient creatures and, as long as they get plenty of cuddles, have a nice, warm place to sleep and lots of delicious food, they are more than happy. I mean, really, who wants to go for a long walk in the freezing cold or pouring rain when your cat is quite able to go out and get chilly and wet without you? Well, that’s what they have their fur coats for, isn’t it?

A cat’s purr makes humans happy. Fact. Yes, yes, I know it sounds scientifically dull, but a feline’s purr can fluctuate between 20-140 Hz, which is a frequency range proven to be medically therapeutic. So listening to your furry friend’s purr can help lower stress and blood pressure.  And what could be better than sitting on the sofa in your PJs with a soft, cosy cat on your lap, purring away with joy?

Unless you have a house cat, you should never have to clear up nasty poo poo, as your little puss puss is more than happy to use your neighbour’s garden as a personal toilet! Shhh, just tell them there have been some foxes loitering around lately…

4. They bring gifts!

Who wouldn’t want a dead mouse at the bottom of the stairs in the morning? Or an injured squirrel waiting in the kitchen after work? Yes, cats can bring us pretty grim presents, but it’s just their way of saying they love you, right? And if you’re really lucky, your furry pal might even bring you a stick. Wow.

5. They’re just so cute!
