Companies seem to be looking for more and more weird ways to grab our attention when they’re selling us stuff these days. Here’s a list of the commercials that we find a tad disturbing…

1. Money Supermarket

First we had Dave strutting in his stilettos and denim hotpants. Then came Colin the big-built builder who showed us his best breakdancing moves. So, why not give each of them a posse and pit them against each other? Well that’s exactly what they did in new ad: Builders vs Strutters. Now witness the oddest dance-off ever…

2. Haribo

Take several mature situations like a meeting in a boardroom, a train commute and add an all-adult cast. Then have them all speak in the voices of little children! The oddest example is this one with a pitch of fully grown macho-looking rugby players, who really shouldn’t sound like that! See and hear them for yourself…

3. M&M’s

We understand that strange things go on behind closed doors. But we weren’t expecting this! A husband comes home early from work to find his wife in bed. ‘It’s not what it looks like,’ she tells him. ‘It’s exactly what it looks like. I thought we agreed to share him,’ her husband responds. And then a giant red M&M appears from beneath the sheets! The ad concludes with Yellow M&M appearing from the wardrobe to warn the wife and Red that her husband Scott is home early. Watch this bizarre series of events…

4. Homepride

Talking of inappropriate behaviour…When Fred, the Homepride mascot, returned after a 10-year break in September 2014, it was with a very odd scenario. Fred firstly helps mum cook a family meal. Then, at the end of the ad, the husband gets a surprise when he finds that Fred is also helping his wife with her bath! There’s since been a new ad for the All American Sticky sauce range in which Fred shows off his lasso skills. But it’s the one with the bathing wife that needs to be seen to be believed…

5. Surf

Meet Surfy, he’s a giant man made of suds and bubbles to demonstrate the long-lasting freshness of Surf washing products! Turns out that Surfy likes nothing more than hanging out with hippies at music festivals. We might have thought we were hallucinating when we first saw him, but we imagine many people at such events often see giant bubble men! Check out groovy Surfy for yourself…

6. Birds Eye

The frozen food company introduced Clarence The Polar Bear back in 2010. He lived in the freezer and was voiced by Platoon actor Willem Dafoe. Clarence’s job was to point out the high-quality ingredients in Birds Eye products. The bear was frozen out in 2014, when it was once again safe to open your freezer! But, in the meantime watch a creepy-looking Clarence startling a lady when she’s expecting to find peas, not polar bears…

7. Cadbury

We go back even further to 2009 for this Cadbury Dairy Milk ad featuring two children performing bizarre eyebrow-dance moves to a cool, electro-funk tune. It opens with a brother and sister sitting for what appears to be a school photograph. However, when the photographer leaves the room, the boy starts a tune on his watch and the pairs brows begin wriggling! Want to witness this eye-boggling sight..?

8. Benylin

Also in 2009 was this ad about getting it off your chest. And what did the man need to get off his chest? A horrible, insistent mucus man that’s what! Tormenting him while he sleeps, our victim ends up wrestling with the creature. But he gets rid of him after he’s had some Benylin Mucus Cough medicine. With a warning not to have nightmares, here’s the hideous mucus man…

9. Fox’s

With a New Jersey accent and sounding like a Mafia boss, is Vinnie – Fox’s Chief Biscwit Officer. Although resembling a panda, Vinnie is apparently a Danda – a cross between a dog and a panda. He’s Fox’s Number One fan and enjoys the finer things in life from around the world including England’s Fox’s biscuits, which he describes as, ‘The good stuff’. We have to say, with his slightly menacing demeanour, we wouldn’t argue with him!
