1. Avengers: Age of Ultron

Who’s involved?
The Avengers reunite once again – Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner. The villain Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, has been left on Asgard. Instead the team will be going up against new baddie Ultron played by James Spader. Other new cast members include Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen.

Storyline:
The Avengers reassemble in order to defeat a new enemy in the form of Ultron. Plus, they have to contend with and eventually recruit the brother-sister duo, superfast Pietro Maximoff otherwise known as Quicksilver and telekinetic magic user Wanda aka Scarlet Witch.

 

2. Mad Max: Fury Road

Films not to miss: Mad Max

Who’s involved?
Directed, produced and co-written by George Miller, this will be the fourth film of the Mad Max franchise, but the first from the franchise in 30 years! The role of Max – made famous by Mel Gibson – has now been passed onto Tom Hardy. Charlize Theron co-stars as Imperator Furiosa.

Storyline:
A post-apocalyptic story set in the desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is fighting one another to stay alive. Mad Max, haunted by his turbulent past, believes the only way to survive is to go off on his own. Max gets caught up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa, which inevitably sees them getting involved in another road war.

 

3. Tomorrowland

Films not to miss: Tomorrowland

Who’s involved?
Created by Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof (Bird is known for his two hit Disney pixar films, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, and Lindelof was a writer on the TV show Lost). Tomorrowland sees the return of George Clooney to the big screen, along with stars Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson and Raffey Cassidy.

Storyline:
Bound by a shared destiny, an optimistic teen with scientific curiosity and a former boy genius inventor, embark on a dangerous mission to unearth the secrets of an mysterious place known only as Tomorrowland. What they must do there changes the world and themselves forever. This looks to be an epic science fiction movie from Disney.

 

4. Jurassic World

Films not to miss: Jurassic World

Who’s involved?
If you’re a fan of the Jurassic Park franchise you will not be disappointed. Leading the way is actor Chris Pratt along with Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer and New Girl’s Jake Johnson.

Storyline:
22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, the remote island, Isla Nublar, now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World. When visitor rates to the park drop a plan is formed to boost attendance. A new attraction is made involving the creation of a hybrid dinosaur. We can only imagine what will happen next…

 

5. Terminator: Genisys

Films not to miss: Terminator Genisys

Who’s involved?
After development difficulties, rights issues and a director dropping out, the fifth Terminator film is finally being released. It’s been directed by Alan Taylor, known for his work on Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World. Terminator Genisys has an action packed cast including Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke together with Jai Courtney (A Good Day to Die Hard), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and of course, the Terminator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger. Well, he did say he’d be back!

Storyline:
John Connor, leader of the resistance, continues the war against the machines. John’s fears of the future begin to surface when he’s notified by Tech Com his army unit, that Skynet will attack from both the past and the future. On the verge of winning the war against Skynet, Connor sends his lieutenant Kyle Reese back in time where he teams up with John’s mother Sarah and an aging Terminator to try and stop the one thing that the future fears… Judgement Day.

 

6. Ant-Man

Films not to miss: Ant-man

Who’s involved?
Ant-Man is the new instalment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has been directed by Peyton Reed with the screenplay written by Adam McKay and Paul Rudd. Taking on the role of the superhero is Rudd himself, and the cast also includes Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll and Michael Douglas.

Storyline:
Armed with a super-suit with the amazing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang has to embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, in safe guarding the Ant-Man technology. Together they plan to pull off a heist that will save the world.

 

7. Inside Out

Films not to miss: Inside Out

Who’s involved?
Inside Out is a new and exciting film from the creators at Disney Pixar, an original idea from director and writer Pete Docter (who is best known for Monsters, Inc. and Up). The film’s voice cast features Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader and Phyllis Smith.

Storyline:
The film is set inside the head of a young girl Riley Anderson. Riley is guided by her emotions – the characters of Joy, Fear, Disgust, Sadness and Anger. The emotions live in the Headquarters which is the control center inside Riley’s mind, here they help advise her though everyday life.

 

8. Man from U.N.C.L.E

Films not to miss: The man from U.N.C.L.E

Who’s involved?
Being handed the reigns to another set of treasured characters is director Guy Ritchie. Taking the leads in this film are Henry Cavill (Superman) and Armie Hammer (the Lone Ranger) whilst Hugh Grant appears as their boss.

Storyline:
Based on the 1960s spy-fi TV show, at the height of the Cold War, the man from U.N.C.L.E centres on agents Napoleon Solo (Cavill) and Illya Kuryakin (Hammer) who take part in a joint mission against a mysterious organisation.

 

9. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

Films not to miss: The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1

Who’s involved?
This sees the final instalment of the much-loved hit series of the Hunger Games. Welcoming back stars Jennifer Lawrence, along with Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and the rest of the team. However the late Philip Seymour Hoffman sadly died before his scenes as Plutarch Heavensbee were completed. There was speculation that CGI would be used to complete the film, however director Francis Lawrence decided against this and opted instead to re-write the script slightly.

Storyline:
Mockingjay is the final Hunger Games novel, which has been split into two films. It sees Katniss playing the role of the poster girl for the revolution, with an army behind her about to storm The Capital to take on President Snow. If you can’t wait to find out what happens…you could always read the book.

 

10. Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Films not to miss: stars wars: the force awakens

Who’s involved?
2015 sees the return of Star Wars to the big screen, however there has been little confirmation on what to expect from the film. What we do know is that J.J. Abrams is directing and has re-written Michael Ardnt’s original script with Lawrence Kasdan. Confirmed cast members include original trio Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker) Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo).

Storyline:
At the moment it is still anyone’s guess!
