Mediums believe that while we’re asleep, it’s easier for loved ones who are in spirit to contact us. This is because, in our dreams, we are between the physical world and the spiritual realm. Not every dream of a lost love one is a visitation dream. You’ll know it’s the real deal if the dream feels very vivid and stays with you for a long time even after you wake.

Many people have experienced finding white feathers soon after a bereavement, or when they are thinking about a person who has passed away. White feathers are seen as a sign of reassurance, sent by an angel, to let you know the person you care about has crossed over to the other side successfully and there’s no need to worry.

Music is something that links us together in life, mothers sing to their children, a man and his wife share a first dance to a special song at their wedding. And after death, it’s said music is just as evocative. Perhaps, as you think of the person in heaven, ‘their’ song comes on the radio, or when you’re feeling low, a song comes on with lyrics that tell you what you need to hear. Some may think this is a coincidence, others draw comfort that it’s a message from beyond.

Clocks have been known to stop at the exact moment someone dies. Or a clock that previously worked very well suddenly freezing could be a sign you’ve been visited, especially if the time displayed means something to you. On the other hand, some people have experienced long-broken clocks come back to life and believed this to be a message from the spirit world.

Wedding anniversaries, birthdays, addresses… So many things of the important milestones we share with those we love in life can be communicated through numbers, so it’s understandable this is a tool used by the spirit world to get in touch. If you keep seeing a sequence of numbers that’s relevant to your relationship with a loved lost one – in places such as number plates or barcodes –  it could be a sign.

If your phone rings once and then stops, if could be someone who has passed over is trying to use the electical energy to get a message to you. Some people report this as having happened years after losing a loved one, but it seems to be more common in the immediate aftermath of a bereavement, as if the person who has passed wants to communicate to you they have arrived safely.

Psychics believe orbs caught in photographs are spirits captured on camera. Look out for the bright white balls of light on photos you take after losing someone you were close to. If you see them, it might be you were visited, especially if the snap is of a special occasion, such as a birthday party, or family wedding, your loved one would have attended if they hadn’t passed.

Penny coins are linked to good luck, but some people don’t know the spirit world can use them as a tool to send a message. If you see a penny, or any coin with a small denomination, in your path, pick it up and be sure to check out the date. If it’s significant to you, there’s an even greater chance it’s a sign the dead are trying to talk to you.
